Wear comfortable clothing that won't restrict your movement while you ride. You may also want to wear moisture-wicking clothing to help keep you cool during the workout. Generally cycling shorts made of lycra with a chamois are the most comfortable. A lycra or similar short sleeve shirt is the best option for comfort.
Most stationary bikes have pedals with clips for cycling shoes. If you have cycling shoes, bring them to class and use them on the bike. If you don't have cycling shoes, you can wear sneakers and use the pedals without clips. Just make sure to adjust the pedals so that you can comfortably reach them while seated on the bike. The standard is Shimano SPD so if you are shopping for shoes make sure to get the compatible cleats.
Arriving early to class will give you time to set up your bike. Adjust the saddle height so that your leg is almost fully extended when the pedal is at the bottom of the stroke. Adjust the handlebars so that they are at a comfortable height and distance from the saddle. Make sure the resistance on the bike is set to a low level before the class begins.
Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the class. You may also want to bring a towel to wipe sweat off your face and a set of headphones if you prefer to listen to your own music during the class.
