The Braava Jet m6 is a solid, efficient robot mop. It’s compact and easy to move around your home, and the strong suction picks up most messes. We were surprised at how quickly it recharged, and the app makes scheduling it for regular cleanings easy. The biggest drawback is that it can only cover about 10 percent of your floor with a single charge, but that’s par for the course with robot mops. If you have mostly hardwood or tile, or throw rugs here and there, you might want to consider something like iRobot’s Roomba 960 , which also has stronger suction and covers more surface area in a single pass than the Braava does.
Our Favorite Robot Mop
It is a robotic mop from iRobot. While it’s not the only robot mop out there, it has a lot going for it. For starters, it covers more area than its main competitors – the Dyson 360 Eye and the Coway Dual 1800. In fact, at 1000 square feet, the Braava m6 is second only to the Neato Botvac D7 in coverage area for a robot mop. Besides having great battery life (60 minutes) and being well-suited for large areas, it’s also well-suited for cleaning hardwood, tile, or linoleum floors. It’ll do an OK job on carpets if you don’t mind doing spot cleanups with a vacuum upright afterward. The challenges of sweeping and mopping are two different things.
A rubberized cleaning head that hooks on to either an included charging base or the MiniJet’s mop pad.
One of the newer additions to iRobot’s robot vacuum family, the Braava Jet m6 went toe to toe with our former top-ranked Neato, the Botvac D7 Connected.
The Braava Jet m6 is a great robot mop for regular cleaning, especially if you have mostly hard surfaces to cover. It has a unique design compared with most other models, which have a separate pickup pad and a very large water reservoir. The Braava Jet m6 combines those two parts into one unit–the top panel of the robot, which also has the heart-shaped LED control lights and a gray stripe up top. The gray stripe contains the cleaning cloth that pulls in and releases from the front of the device.
Why stop at vacuuming? This robot mop combines the cleaning power of iRobot’s signature sweeping technology with effective microfiber and squeegee mopping in one sleek, compact package. The robot uses a map of your home to plan out cleaning routes, and the onboard scheduling tool allows you to choose whether it clean or not when and where you want it to.
High-capacity Li-ion battery with up to 100 minutes of run time
This robot mop comes with a handheld remote control and a charging base that holds six Swiffer cloth refills in place. The refill cartridge is attached to a sticky pad, which you remove and place on the bottom of the Braava. The sticky pads are washable, so they can last for several uses.
Measuring only 3.5 by 10.0 by 10.6 inches (HWD) and weighing 5 pounds, the iRobot Braava Jet m6 robot mop is smaller and lighter than most robot vacuums we’ve tested, and it’s the only mopping bot we tested with a detachable “wet cleaning” cloth that makes it easier to remove ground-in dirt from hardwood floors and tile.
A suite of sensors that scan or sweep
While the iRobot Braava Jet m6 may not have blown away our cleaning test experts, most of them seem to agree that it’s the best robot mop for the average homeowner. These days you can’t walk through an appliance store without bumping into a robot vacuum cleaner designed to automatically sweep and/or mop your floors, but there haven’t been nearly as many robot mops. In fact, other than iRobot’s original Braava, only Samsung has had a go at it. The Braava Jet m6 is a significant improvement over earlier models. It still doesn’t work on thick carpets or on multicolored floors, but for basic everyday cleaning it does a good job. This little robot can dry-mop 99 percent of the areas in your home that are regularly cleaned with a broom—kitchen floors and counters, bathrooms, hallways, and so on. Its software knows which areas aren’t covered by carpets, allowing it to clean only those rooms. And while this mop cleaner will never replace your regular vacuum (and shouldn’t be used as such), if you want the convenience of a mopping robot that doesn’t require any cranking or priming, the mopping pad slides right off.
The m6 is suitable for both apartments and larger homes.
Some people clean their hardwood floors every day, but if you’re one of those lazy people who only cleans it once a week, or even less, you might want to consider getting a robot vacuum. They’re great at sucking up dirt in the cracks of your floor and are capable of going from hardwood to carpet without missing a beat. However, the one drawback is that robot vacuums aren’t really suited for mopping. That’s where iRobot’s latest product comes into play: The Braava Jet m6. It does everything you’d expect from a typical robot vacuum, such as cleaning up sticky messes and dirt, but it also mops at the same time. Yes, finally! Now you won’t have to deal with dirty floors anymore! Also, because it can map out your home spaces and cleans in specific areas each time, this little mop will be able to keep your place squeaky clean on a consistent basis.
